The Steppers' Network of Strength

My name is Monique Salter and I am the founder and president of The Step and Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. Being a woman at risk for the disease, I am a strong supporter of the breast cancer advocacy movement. I am a native of Chicago and an active member of our steppin community. I have developed relationships with an extensive network of people in and around our community therefore, I am using this platform to not only assist with financial hardships, but to inform others of the benefits of early detection and ways to prevent themselves from ever developing breast cancer.

We want to provide a network of strength throughout our nation wide stepping community. Our foundation is devoted to representing the needs of women and men affected by this deadly disease. The tragedy of this illness is not merely the physical and emotional burden, but also the enormous financial strain it places on a family.

In 2004, I lost my very dear friend, Bridgett to breast cancer. Bridgett and her family were tremendously affected. She had worked and saved her money for years. Her insurance benefits were exhausted and her medical expenses depleted her bank account.

It is my belief that through this non-profit organization, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by this disease Steppers & Non-steppers in and around our community.
