Happy Holidays
I must begin by congratulating the sponsors of the first annual
Chicago Steppin Convention (CSC). The Majestic Gents, VIP Productions
and Dreamgirls hosted a magnificent event for the local and national
stepping community over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The CSC's
activities are an example of how successful steppers can be when we join
forces and work together. A special thank you goes out to: the
volunteers that sacrificed their time to work at the Step and Think Pink
table at the CSC's main event on Saturday night and to everyone that
signed our mailing list and/or purchased a t-shirt/lollipop. I truly
appreciate everyone's support of the Foundation's efforts.

EARLY DETECTION: Although, the Foundation
has only been in existence for two months, it seems I have spoken with hundreds
of people regarding the impact of Breast cancer on our families. Inevitably the
question arises, “what can we do to combat the disease”. My response to this
question is Early Detection!
Studies show that early detection increases the survival rate by
as much as 96 percent, especially for those women who detect breast cancer in
its first stage.
We know this is an uncomfortable topic for many people, but early detection
saves lives and that is one of the reasons that Step and Think Pink was
established. Breast cancer is most treatable when it is discovered in its
earliest stages. The best method for detecting the presence of life threatening
cancer cells is by having a mammogram examination. Beginning at age 40, every
woman should have a yearly mammogram.
So, when you see a Steppin Against the Odds of Breast Cancer t-shirt, or when
you purchase a lollipop or when you receive this Pink News Letter, think about
all the lives that can be saved merely by having a yearly mammogram. If this
applies to you, make your appointment today. If this applies to a loved one,
forward this News Letter to them. Talk to them about it. Your voice alone may be
their deciding factor.
