We hope you have had a fantastic start to the New Year.
Since the last newsletter, we hosted a Bone Marrow drive for Leslie
Roberts. The Drive was a huge success! A special thank you to all of the
steppers who came out and joined the
 registry.
If you were unable to attend the drive and would still like to be a
potential match for Leslie & other African-Americans who need a donor,
call 1-800-MARROW-2. Remember, a simple cheek swab, No needles-No blood.
Please continue to pray that a donor match is found for Leslie. We are
confident that it is in God’s plan for Leslie to beat this dreadful
disease.

Additionally, we have been busy solidifying our 2009 schedule of events
and activities. We have set some very ambitious goals for ourselves.
With your continued support, we are confident that we will be able to

The gourmet lollipops are just $1.00. Show your support for our brothers
& sisters who are coping with the affects of this disease by wearing a
pink breast cancer awareness ribbon. We will be distributing the ribbons

The Best defense against breast cancer is a good offense. There are no perfect
solutions, but you can do many things to reduce your risk of developing the
disease.
Risk Factors
Recent Oral Contraceptive Use Studies have found that women
using oral contraceptives (birth control pills) have a slightly greater
risk of breast cancer than women who have never used them, but this risk
seems to decline once their use is stopped. Women who stopped using oral
contraceptives more than 10 years ago do not appear to have any
increased breast cancer risk. When thinking about using oral
contraceptives, women should discuss their other risk factors for breast
cancer with their health care team.
