Hello Everyone
March
10, 2009: I had the honor of appearing on Comcast NewsMakers in Oakland,
California. Although very nervous, I was very excited. It was a great
experience and a wonderful opportunity to get the word out about the
Foundation and the benefits of early detection. Thank you Tyehimba
Jelani and Jada Roseman for all of your help.

Hats, Pinstripes & Stilettos: May 1-3, 2009, Oakland, California
The Foundation had the pleasure of hosting the Saturday, Walkers
Workshop and Steppers Brunch at The Hats, Pinstripes & Stilettos Event
and it was an absolute success! A special thank you to all of you that
attended & to the Walkin Instructors. I truly appreciate all of your
support. May God Bless & Keep you all.
During the event, I had the pleasure of meeting Geanie Asante, a young
lady who is a cancer survivor. She wrote a book entitled, I Open My
Heart. In this book, she gives account of her fight to overcome the
dreadful disease. She is an absolute sweetheart and her story is one
that will encourage & inspire you. Genie was a vendor at The Steppers
Brunch and was kind enough to donate a portion of the proceeds from her
book sales to the foundation. Thank you & God Bless You Genie!

Risk Factors
The Best defense against breast cancer is a good offense.
There are no perfect solutions, but you can do many things to reduce
your risk of developing the disease.
Weight. Being
overweight is associated with increased risk of breast cancer,
especially for women after menopause. Fat tissue is the body’s main
source of estrogen after menopause, when the ovaries stop producing the
hormone. Having more fat tissue means having higher estrogen levels,
which can increase breast cancer risk.
