Well, We Did It!
The Step and Think Pink BCA Foundation and Sistas In Sync hosted our first School Supply Drive for the Children of Breast Cancer Survivors on Friday, August 7, 2009 at the Dorchester in Dolton, IL. The event was an absolute success! There are no words that can express our sincere gratitude for the overwhelming support. There were approximately 400 attendees from Chicago and across the Nation. As a result of your generosity, we were able to bless more than 100 children with school supplies and monetary contributions. Your continued commitment to helping us help the breast cancer survivors in and around our community is sincerely appreciated.

Cranial Prosthesis
It is known to many that hair loss is a traumatic and an unfortunate side effect of chemotherapy. What isn't always known is the personal effect the experience has on a woman's self esteem and social acceptance. I had the pleasure of meeting a young lady who is professional, genuinely compassionate and determined to make a difference in the lives of people who suffer from hair loss. The foundation embraces and supports her efforts and plans to assist breast cancer patients who would like to use her service.

THE “PINK - STEP-A-THON”!

Calling All Steppers from All Cities to Participate! This event Will be TELEVISED!

Represent Your Class, Your Upcoming Event or Your City!

The event is very much like a walk-a-thon. Instead of walking, however, participants raise money by Steppin! Team captains will pick their team mates. Each team will consist of 10-20 steppers. Start organizing your teams now!

Every team
MUST be represented on the dance floor by at least one team member for the 12 hour duration of the event. When a stepper tires, a fresh team member replaces them on the dance floor. The idea is essentially a dancing version of a relay race - without the race.

Prizes will be awarded! All Proceeds from this event will benefit breast cancer patients & survivors!

More details will be forth coming! If you are interested in being a team captain email: info@stepandthinkpink.org

The Best defense against breast cancer is a good offense. There are no perfect solutions, but you can do many things to reduce your risk of developing the disease.
Risk Factors
The Best defense against breast cancer is a good offense. There are no perfect solutions, but you can do many things to reduce your risk of developing the disease.

Race and Ethnicity
White women are slightly more likely to develop breast cancer than are African-American women. African-American women are more likely to die of this cancer. At least part of this seems to be because African-American women tend to have more aggressive tumors, although why this is the case is not known. Asian, Hispanic, and Native-American women have a lower risk of developing and dying from breast cancer.

I Open My Heart
I had the pleasure of meeting Geanie Asante, a young lady who is a cancer survivor. She wrote a book entitled, I Open My Heart. In this book, she gives account of her fight to overcome the dreadful disease. If you are battling breast or any kind of cancer her story is one that will encourage & inspire you. To purchase a copy of her book Click Here.
